Kinder to Prep Transition – Step into Foundation
In October and November, we embark on our Kinder to Foundation Transition Programs ‘Step into Foundation’, designed to seamlessly integrate upcoming Foundation students into our school community. With three dedicated sessions, these programs offer a unique opportunity for both students and parents to familiarise themselves with our school environment and meet their future teachers.
These critical steps not only facilitate a smooth transition for our young learners but also provide us with invaluable insights into each individual child. By actively participating in these programs, families contribute to the creation of a nurturing and supportive educational journey for their children.

Buddies Program
At the start of the year, we prioritise the smooth transition of our Foundation students into school life by pairing each of them with a Year 5 or 6 buddy. These buddy relationships extend beyond the classroom, offering invaluable support during recess and lunchtime.
These older buddies serve as mentors and friends, guiding our newest students through the ins and outs of school routines. This initiative not only fosters a sense of belonging and camaraderie but also promotes leadership skills among our older students.
Through these buddy relationships, we create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child feels supported and empowered to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally from day one.
Embarking on the transition from Year 6 to Year 7 marks a significant milestone in every student’s educational journey. We ensure a seamless transition by equipping high schools with comprehensive transition notes for each child. These detailed profiles provide invaluable insights into every student’s academic achievements, interests, and individual needs, ensuring that their unique strengths are recognized and supported from the outset.
Year 6 to Year 7 Transition
As part of the transition process, students across the state come together for a dynamic statewide transition day. This event offers a glimpse into the exciting opportunities that await them in high school, while also fostering new connections and friendships with peers from diverse backgrounds.
Furthermore, we provide numerous opportunities for students to visit high schools for a range of purposes, from familiarising themselves with the campus facilities to meeting with teachers. These visits empower students to envision themselves thriving in their new learning environment.
With a proactive approach to transition planning, we ensure that every student feels supported, prepared, and excited to embark on their high school journey, setting the stage for a successful and fulfilling academic experience ahead.
